THC Syringe

Posted by CANNASaver on Wednesday, 29 September 2021 in Canna Blog

I’m sure at some point or another you’ve been in a dispensary and saw a syringe-looking device. Or maybe you haven’t and we sound like junkies over here, but trust me, this is 100% THC goodness.

So what is a THC syringe and what exactly is it used for? Let’s take a look at why you may want to try one.

What Is a THC Syringe?

THC syringes are plastic (needleless) syringes filled with full-spectrum cannabis oil.

Cannabis oil (RSO) is made from concentrated marijuana into a paste-like substance that is taken sublingually and is incredibly strong.

Full-spectrum refers to the vast amount of cannabinoids found in cannabis oil. The oil in the syringe is usually extremely dark/thick.

The plastic syringe is used to dispense cannabis oil and allows the ability to dispense cannabis oil to precise amounts exactly the amount you want.

Syringes are also an easy way to keep the cannabis oil fresh while maintaining ease of dosing.

How Is Cannabis Oil Made?

Cannabis oil is a marijuana extract made utilizing a solvent to extract cannabinoids. The oil has lots of THC with a fine assortment of other cannabinoids. The most common solvent is grain alcohol.

Marijuana flower material is placed in a large container with alcohol added after.

The mixture is stirred and crushed over and over into the alcohol until the liquid is nice and green.

Like, Hulk green.

After a little time, alcohol is drained from the remaining plant mixture.

That mixture will then be heated in a container and the residual alcohol will evaporate.

Why Use A THC Syringe?

Those needing cannabis oil typically need it in precise doses.

The syringes allow for exact dose measurements marked on the syringe itself.

This ensures that no cannabis oil is wasted during usage.

Syringes are especially useful for those with impaired motor functions (seizures, tremors, etc.). Syringes can be used to squirt medicine directly into the mouth without any oil spilling.

Syringes are typically used for oral consumption but they can also be used to measure cannabis oils used in edibles.

The Benefits Of THC Syringes

Cannabis oil is perfect for those that require a full spectrum of cannabinoids at bigger doses throughout the day. It should be noted by patients that cannabis helps you get the full spectrum of cannabinoids that were in the plant matter used to create the oil.

Concentrates like distillate (also found in syringes) are normally bought for their THC/THCA potency. Cannabis oil is bought for its THC containing plant matter and other cannabinoids. THC, THCA, and CBD are cannabinoids those who use syringes typically are looking for. Distillate only has THC/THCA.

How To Use A THC Syringe

THC syringes can be used in different ways to help an individual’s needs.

When using a THC syringe be sure to read the instructions. Each dose depends on the person involved. Typically, doses should be about the size of half a grain of rice and should be administered once every eight hours (morning, noon, and night).

I hope I don’t have to say this but I probably do, don’t be a badass!

My brother, both a major stoner and dealing with major pain from awful brain cancer, couldn’t handle feeling the potent high the oil produced.

Start low and build to it.

The cannabis oil also has a robust and bitter taste that might not be too enjoyable for some.

I always suggest taking it with a tasty munchie treat which is high in fats.

Foods such as peanut butter or yogurt mask its bitter taste and increase THC absorption throughout your body.

Other Uses For THC Syringes

No worries to those not seeking medical relief.

THC syringes add an extra kick to your buds

Just a little cannabis oil from the syringe onto the buds can reduce the amount of flower you go through.

This mostly applies to distillate syringes. Some creative other uses for THC syringes.

Adding Cannabis Oil To Joints

You simply put small amounts of the distillate onto your marijuana while rolling a joint before smoking it.

Just know that adding distillate to joints can ruin the durability and can lead to a sticky situation.

Don’t put too much.

Distillate Syringe For Dabbing

Distillate syringes can be ideal for dabbing because you can easily dispense a drop of distillate right onto your dab tool. Some syringes come with a metal tip. This can allow you to also directly dab your syringe to a banger/nail.

Easy dabbing.

So maybe it’s about time you give THC syringes a chance.

There are so many benefits of THC syringes.

They come in different sizes and can give accurate doses for those who need them.

How to Find the Cheapest Weed Deals in CO

Posted by CANNASaver on Tuesday, 28 September 2021 in Canna Blog

Want your weed, your way?

Of course, you do.

Want it with the best, most competitive deals in Colorado?

Mhmm.

We’ve got you covered. Here at Cannasaver, we can provide you with the best deals on the weed you want, from all the best dispensaries.

Sound good?

OK, enough with the stupid questions. You want to know how to get the deals, right?

Cannasaver.

Memorize it, put it in your phone, bookmark it on your browser, so whenever you need your weed, you’ve got access to our perfect deal machine.

Now – let us walk you through it.

It’s hugely intuitive. We made it that way because we know what it’s like to want our best weed deals. But let’s go through it from the top.

Geolocated Deals and the Search Facility

The top weed deals are top left. That’s where you find the easiest way to bring up the deals you want.

The search facility will geolocate you, so it will get you the deals that are closest to you.

What do you want today? Edibles? Joints? Resin?

The search facility is your weed genie.

·         Type in as much as you know about what you want. In the mood for a joint? Type “joints.”

·         Need those chewy edibles, type “edibles.” Boom – the search facility will get you the best local deals on the kind of weed you want.

But it’s cooler than that. If you leave the search facility on “All,” you’ll get a list of all the options close to you. But within your results, you can filter down.

·         You can specify Deals, Brands, Stores, and Location, to get the specific deals most appeal to you.

·         Just click the tab you like, and it will filter your results, getting you the best deal as fast as possible.

·         For instance, if you type “joints” into the search bar, you’ll get options like “3 joints for $24.” Clicking on that deal, or selecting “Store” will take you to a deal from Primal LLC, on Iowa Ave, Colorado Springs. That means you can get the same deal several ways.

·         You’ll see all the relevant details of the deal – the store name and location, the price, any necessary disclaimers, and the length of time for which the deal is live.

·         Then you’ll be able to print the coupon to present to the retailer, so you can get the deal for the price listed on the site.

And lather, rinse, repeat – you can use the search facility to explore all the available deals on all the types of weed you want.

The great thing about www.cannsaver.com is that it’s about growing the local trade, working with local dispensaries all around Colorado, so you can not only find the best deals on the weed you want online, but use the coupons on the website to support your local weed trade.

If you’re not sure what weed you want, you can still use the search facility. Or you can use the options ranged along the top of the page.

How to Find Cheapest Ounce Deals

Let’s come back to Categories.

Next along to the right, you’ll see Ounce Deals. Feel like what you need?

·         Click Ounce Deals. The main body of the page will change to display all the best local deals on an ounce.

·         Browse the visible deals till you find one you like.

·         Among those deals, for instance, you can get $50.83 on an ounce of flower (Strain Specific).

·         Clicking on that deal takes you straight to the coupon page. It will give you all the information you need – it’s a deal from The Stone, in Denver, Westwood.

·         If you decide you want that deal, click on the coupon where it says “Print Coupon” and you’re good to go.

·         Take your coupon to The Stone, and – as long as the deal lasts – that ounce of flower is yours.

Each deal or coupon page also has links to Google Maps, so if you’re driving to collect your deal, you have a precise location and navigation details.

One thing you’ll appreciate is that when the page fills with deals, under “Ounce Deals And Coupons,” a sub-menu appears, with headings like Medical, Recreation, Price, and Store. If you don’t see a deal on the page to tempt you, you can refine your choice by clicking on these options.

·         Got a price range in mind for your ounce? Choose it from the pricing drop-down.

·         Need an ounce of strictly recreational, or strictly medicinal, weed? Select the type you want, and the options narrow, getting you closer to the perfect ounce for you right now.

·         Prefer dealing with specific local stores? You can select those too, so you’re supporting your local supplier.

How to Find Cheapest Recreational Weed Deals

Need some good recreational weed, but not necessarily limiting yourself to the ounce?

Go across the top of the screen and click Rec Deals. The process is the same – the site will sort its content into weed deals that are specifically recreational.

Feel like an ounce of Top Shelf Indoor Popcorn for just $90.97? Not a problem.

That’s a deal from Herbs4You in Denver, Colorado, and it features among the pictured Recreational deals.

Again, the sub-menu lets you select your price range, your type and amount, or your favorite store, to simplify your browsing experience. Click on the deal, get the coupon, go to the store, done.

How to Find Cheapest Medical Weed Deals

Need some strictly medical weed? You won’t be surprised to learn the process is the same – we made it repeatable so it’s easy and intuitive for you to find the deals you want.

·         Click on Med Deals.

·         Browse the deals.

·         Choose, say, $80 Oz Med Flower, a deal from Magic City Cannabis of Denver South Broadway.

·         Print out the coupon (or screenshot on your phone).

·         Head to Denver South Broadway and claim your deal.

It really is that simple to get the best weed deals in CO these days.

How to Find Newest Weed Deals

Newest Deals is more for the soldiers of fortune out there, the mavericks, the pepperoni fans who suddenly one Friday night go “Screw it, put some pineapple on my pizza, let’s see where this goes.”

·         Click on Newest Deals.

·         Browse what’s brand new.

·         Select, maybe, $34.99 for 2g of Shift Live Resin, a hot new deal from Golden Meds, in Peoria.

·         Print the coupon (or screenshot on your phone).

·         You know the rest.

Featured Stores

This is exactly what it sounds like – it’s a round-up of local stores, but rather than give you yards of boring review text, clicking the link to their listing gives you their latest deals. So you can cut to the chase if you have a favorite store – click on their listing, see what they have on sale right now. We’ve linked you through directly to a few store listings here, but Featured Stores is how you get access to your favorite stores and their latest deals, all grouped together.

·         Just click on the store you like.

·         Browse the deals they have on offer.

·         Click on the one you want.

·         Print the coupon.

·         Use the Google Maps – if you need to!

·         And keep yourself in the weed to which you have become accustomed.

Categories

Categories is a drop-down to make all your best weed dreams come true.

·         First, it gives you a quick-click listing of all the categories we’ve been through – rec deals, medical deals, and so on.

·         Clicking on any of these items in the drop-down will take you straight to the right pages. But Categories is where all the other deals are hiding too.

·         Edible deals? Click the link to see all the edible deals – and as ever, the sub-menu means you can narrow your search by price and store.

·         Vaporizer and cartridge deals? Here too.

·         Live resin deals, glass pipe deals, special holiday deals. They’re all listed in Categories. Simply select the type of deal you want, and you’ll group them all together in a page for you to browse.

·         Then just pick the one you want.

·         Print the coupon.

·         And turn your web browsing into weed browsing – and all with the best deals you can get in Colorado.

We take a lot of the hassle out of finding the weed deals you want, the amount you want, and the price you want, when and where you want them.

That’s why we’re confident it will get you the cheapest weed deals in CO.

In high school shop class, Frank Donners often got high marks for accidental demonstration of subatomic principles such as gravity and polarity, through many falls and egregious misuse of large magnets. So it wasn’t completely surprising that the 34-year-old Bowlington man accidentally stumbled onto a major breakthrough in the study of light and electromagnetic waves, when, on a random whim, he figured out how to stop light beams in their tracks while sitting at his own garage workbench.

Even more interesting, the woodworker-cum-physicist was able to accomplish the feat with a mediocre 6-foot 2x4.

“The light is completely reduced to a shadow, we believe, due to the opacity of the wood,” he announced to peers in the science community via nonviral video last week.

Donner says he was cheefing in his garage laboratory when he came across the strange behavior of certain light waves. “It was if they were suspended in beams, coming from my window, and in these beams I could see the actual floating light particles, especially moreso when I kicked up a bunch of sawdust into it.”

It was after a few piles of sawdust that he suddenly had an epiphany. Following his recovery from a terrible coughing spell, Donners managed to snag a nearby framing stud and affixed it to the workbench barclamp. Then, he sat back to observe the magic. Sure enough, the light, acting as a particle, could not bend, and was totally blocked by the lumber, creating a dark shadow on the ground.

It was, appropriately, a ground-breaking moment.

“Matilda!” he yelled to his wife, over and over, until the whole family came to observe the phenomenon.

The discovery, which brought him acclaim and series of research grants, is now catalogued in his forthcoming book, “The Block of Light,” which immediately skyrocketed to the top 349,617 on Amazon.

Donners, a self-taught carpenter by trade, learned much of what he knows from studying social media outlets and his own intuition. Always drawn to the mysteries of the quantum universe, he is best known among friends for  "feats of science," such as "freezing light" by shining a flashlight into an ice-cube tray, and on one occasion, "holding a light particle" suspended in space, between two chopsticks while at the local Chinese buffet. Now, energized by his own momentum and growing recognition, Donners plans several successive experiments, such as testing whether a groundhog could see its shadow on groundhog’s day, by studying his ability to see his own shadow.

"I think we all can agree there's gonna be a shadow," he says. "The question that haunts me, is why?"

Cannabis Seeds and Clones

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 24 September 2021 in Canna Blog

Fall is officially here for the year and with its arrival brings many wonderful things.

Leaves changing, pumpkin spice everything, Halloween, cozy nights, corn mazes, and most importantly harvest time for this year’s outdoor crop!

October, or as we call it here at Cannasaver, ‘Croptober’, is our favorite time of the year.

For us, it means there’ll be a whole bunch of new weed deals for the month and some brand new strains to test out.  There’s nothing better than getting your hands and fingers sticky from trimming up those tasty buds with your buds before they are hung and dried.

The smell alone is worth setting some time aside to trim some pot.  But maybe you didn’t have a chance to grow your own crop this year or maybe you didn’t know where to begin your growing journey?

Well, fear not, friends!

We here at Cannasaver have done our research and are bringing you all the information you’ll need to decide for next year how to begin your garden by starting some seeds or acquiring some already rooted weed clones or cuttings.

Each option has its own benefits and ranges in level of difficulty to get your baby plants into flowering giants.

Weed Seeds

Has this ever happened to you?

You get a bag of some dank, dank chronic and while smoking it, you stumble upon a few seeds hidden in the tasty flowers so you set them aside and save them because the ganja was so dank that you want to grow some yourself.

Great!

The first step you’ll want to do is to get the seed to germinate and begin its very first root

To germinate and begin your seeds, you’ll want to get a paper towel wet and squeeze out excess water so that it’s damp but not soaking

Next, set your seeds inside the paper towel and place the paper towel between two plates so the paper towel is sitting in a small, dark dome between the two plates.

Put the plates in a warm 70-80 degree area and wait around 3 days to a week, checking the seeds once a day after the 3-day mark and keeping the paper towels wet with a spray bottle of water.

You should see the husk of the seed break open on one end and a small white root begins to show.  This is called a taproot.  Once this root is present, you can now put your seed into soil or your preferred growing medium.

You’ll want to start small with your pot size and increase the size as your baby seed grows bigger.

Benefits of Weed Seeds

The coolest part of starting your own seeds is that the weed you grow from it and the cuttings that come from your plant are exclusive and no one else will have that exact strain unless you give out the cuttings.

Some growers take this to heart and protect their signature strains under lock and key.

The other benefit is you are able to pick the best traits from many different seeds you start and select the most vigorous, healthy, and best yielding strain by testing multiple seeds from the same bag.

If you’re looking for a great seed deal check out our friends over at Herbs4you!

They have a sale going on with their feminized seeds in some fire flavors for you to choose from.

Weed Clones

For some though starting from seeds can be too lengthy a process and want to have a faster turnover from start to finish.

For many, the alternative to starting from seeds is to buy clones or cuttings from a grower or shop.

A clone is an already-rooted weed plant taken from a "mother" plant.

This is done by cutting one of the branches off a larger plant or “Mother plant” and placing the stem end down into either rock wool or an aeroponic cloning machine

Both methods require a rooting hormone to be used in order to stimulate the plant's natural ability to grow fresh healthy roots.

The process usually takes 7-10 days depending on the strain you are taking the cutting from and the conditions that it is being kept in.

Ideally, the temperature should be around 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

The newly-taken cuttings must be kept moist and hydrated to prevent them from drying out before the roots have appeared.

Plants are able to absorb moisture from their stomata located at the leaf nodes.

Perhaps the best part of getting clones vs. seeds is that you know what you are getting as far as a strain goes.  You have a proven winner and healthy stallion genetics thriving in those babies.  If you can get them from a source such as from a featured dispensary on our site, then you know what you are getting will throw down that hot fire dank dank everyone wants to grow.

You are also able to skip the Phenotype testing that takes a whole grow cycle to perfect and determine which plant you’ll want to keep for your "mother" plant.

For many large recreational growers, clones are the way of life.

Having healthy clones to start a crop is the difference between a high-yielding, vigorous, stanky-danky garden full of thriving beautiful cannabis plants vs. a wimpy garden with some puny nuggets barely producing any sweet trichomes.

When shopping for your new babies we recommend checking out our deals on clones around your area.

Our Suggestions on Seeds and Clones

We recommend starting with healthy established clones for your first garden.

Generally speaking, you’ll run into fewer health issues down the line starting from genetics that have already been tested by other growers.

You’ll cut 2-3 weeks off your grow cycle by having already rooted established babies to start your garden rather than waiting for seedlings to sprout.

Ask your budtender or grower for something mold-resistant, high yielding, and then take your pick of Sativa or Indica that will float your balloon as high as a giraffe's necktie.

Look at that thumb turn green!

Scientists at the Department of Genius may have found a portal to a 5th Denny's on the east side of Cannatown. According to their recently published report in Woah Dude! Journal of Smartness, the implications for our universe are still hazy, but at the very least could offer a long needed wake-and-bake destination in that neighborhood.

As posited by lead author Oscar Sven, the 5th Dennys is "Unseen by most cadets, unless high on a celestial scale, where the farces of gravy and electromagnetism unite." The discovery, largely enabled through research of dank matter, stands to offer cadets access to a previously untapped cache of resources like the Grand Slamwich.

The group's work required new modalities in order to study something so unfamiliar. For years, the science community has been getting glimpses and tempting whiffs of mouth-watering platters like Moons Over My Hammy and the Lumberjack Slam, but only for split seconds in laboratory settings. "There is very little in traditional physics to account for whipped cream and strawberry-topped chocolate chip pancakes, so we're literally making up equations as we go, like Calvinball," Sven said.

Relatively little is known about the warped eggstra dimension, and this research focuses on firm-onion masses that could be entering the 5th Dennys via the secret portal, creating dank matter, namely some mad onion rings.

"The question now," the team wrote, "is how we get through the portal, to the onion rings."

We're still learning about the fourth Denny's, over on Puremelt Dr." said report co-author Shawna Monson. "That we have a portal to the fifth is absolutely mind-boggling, to the point of initiating a semi-universal, hangry jonesing for Belgian waffles."

However, high epiphanies about the portal are the easy bit. Now, researchers actually need to uncover it. Similarly, the Welch's Strawberry Soda Vending Machine was first proposed in 1964, but not found until its Noby Prize winning discovery in 2012. In that case it was only through development of the world's most brain-detonating Haze strain, Large Thought Collider (LTC), that researchers were able to get baked enough to make the find; even those levels are insufficient for the 5th Denny's, a portal to which would require any observer to be higher than the speed of light.

But researchers remain undaunted by the task. "I would've thought it impossible to be so high, even five years ago," said Monson. "Yet here we are now, discussing a portal to another Dennys."

How to Get a Medical Marijuana Prescription

Posted by CANNASaver on Monday, 20 September 2021 in

Has this ever happened to you?

One day you’re out for a nice evening stroll when out of nowhere a wild gang of highly trained, rogue opossum ninjas begin to follow you.

They scamper through gutters and people’s yards, hiding in the shadows behind garbage cans stopping but for a brief snack and sip of water only to catch up to you as quickly as they had stopped to break from their pursuit.

You begin to worry a bit and tell yourself it's only the joint that your buddy hooked you up with and it must be some potent ganja, but then you look back again and the opossum gang is still there and getting closer...

So, you begin to run, and in doing so, twist your ankle and fall down.

Then, you look back up and it turns out the opossums weren’t actually trying to catch you but were just neighborhood cats and there was a fish market halfway up the block ahead of you and they knew it was the time that all the excess fish got put in the alley for them to feast on.

But now you’ve got a sprained ankle and feel silly about the whole situation.

Fear not!

Now that you have injured yourself and need to go see a doctor for the pain in your foot, you are well on your way to getting a medical marijuana card.

This situation hasn’t happened to us, but if it did to you, then we are sorry for your pain and possible PTSD from the whole ordeal and we have some good news!

You are more than likely qualified to get your medical marijuana card!!

Benefits of Getting a Medical Marijuana Prescription

Many states are now fully legal both medically and recreationally, however some states still are only medically legal.

For some, having a medical card and being able to legally carry and consume cannabis as the medicine it is, can be the difference between living a happy, productive, pain-medicated life through cannabis and getting a potentially dangerous pain medication prescription

We here at Cannasaver think everyone should have safe access to medicine that fits their life and works with their body and mind.

In this blog, we’ll give you some tips on how to get a medical card in your state and some helpful tips to get you through the process it takes to get one.

If you are thinking about getting your card, we have found that having your medical card can be the difference between a large ticket or worse and being let go by an officer of the law if you are ever in a sticky situation with cannabis.  No pun intended.

There have been times for us that we have been pulled over in a state where cannabis is not recreationally legal but is medical, had our medical card, and been let go with our medicine.

Now, this isn’t always the case and it won’t get you out of a Driving While Under the Influence ticket if the officer deems you are intoxicated (and we strongly discourage you from driving under the influence), but it definitely doesn’t hurt to have if you are ever in any situation.

Conditions for Getting Medical Marijuana Prescription

The first step is acquiring proof that you have a condition that can be treated through medical cannabis.

Luckily, the list is pretty long.

Alzheimer's disease

Appetite loss

Cancer

Crohn's disease

Diseases affecting the immune system like HIV/AIDS or Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Eating disorders such as anorexia

Epilepsy

Glaucoma

Mental health conditions like schizophrenia and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Multiple sclerosis

Muscle spasms

Nausea

Pain

Seizures

Wasting syndrome (cachexia)

How to Get a Medical Marijuana Prescription

Once you have documented proof that you have one or more of these conditions, it’s time to do a Google search of cannabis doctors in your state.  There will probably be a long list of doctors so we recommend picking one near to you.

Oftentimes, these doctors will do events where they travel around the state and see many patients in one day.  We have seen a decrease in the number of doctors in some states where cannabis has become recreationally legal.

After you’ve seen your doctor and have the signed form for the state indicating you are prescribed medical marijuana, you will need to mail it into the licensing office along with your other supporting documents so that they may issue you a medical card.

Why Should I Get My Medical Card Even If It’s Legal In My State?

In many states, there are still benefits to having your medical marijuana card.

For example, in Colorado having your card allows you to buy stronger cannabis products at lower prices

Adam Driever, career meteorologist for local WRHO News on Channel 11, is out after being blamed for the worst storm in years. “This one was awful, it was historic and traumatic, and it’s all on Adam,” explained Lieutenant Ralph Bongatron in a press conference early Tuesday morning. “He’s been telling us it was going to be low nineties all week. And just look what happened.”

Driever, once considered the jolliest, stonedest meteorologist since Willard Scott, saw his lifelong reputation go up in flames after predicting late June temperatures to begin two weeks ago. Instead, historic storms and cold temperatures crippled the area. Apocalyptic scenes of survival have trickled out of devastated area, where electricity was down for hours--then days--and some are still without power.

"Damn that Adam Driever," said Carmen Simon, resident of hard-hit Ditchweed, in the southern Highlands. "If he'd just been more right, this never would've happened."

Said a neighbor, "Can you believe this guy? People dying and starving, all because this meathead told us we'd be just fine!"

As the crisis unfolded, elected leaders went public blaming everything, from the renewable sources that make up a fraction of the grid, to the very people in charge who, with an air of superiority, have hailed the grid’s supremacy for decades, despite scientists, engineers, and other regulatory agency’s warnings of time worn infrastructure--not to mention, the old wive’s tale of climate change, which causes weather extremes.

But after a few days, authorities reached a consensus. It was announced that the storm was the direct cause of Adam Driever’s untimely, counterfactual prediction.

"It wasn't the people in charge," Ditchweed chamber of commerce president Genessa Tjader told constituents during an emergency virtual meeting. "It’s that darn meteorologist. He did this."

Another long-time critic of logic, Senator Ted Crud, was chastised after leaving during the freeze, for sunny Canncun. His office released a statement that said Crud blamed his regrettable decision on two Johnsonville-sized blunts rolled with Space Queen wax. "Were it not for the fact that he was stoned out of his gourd, the public would be absolutely right to demand his resignation and label him scum. We absolutely concur: that this behavior from any non-stoned leader should be considered balls-out villainy."

“Still,” the statement concluded, “curse that Adam Driever, curse him and his lousy weather report.”

Driever, who has been receiving death threats, has quit working, and moved to an undisclosed motel somewhere in Cannatown’s northern suburbs. Meanwhile, already-desperate citizens struggle to cope with the worst crisis at what seems the 11th hour. “The only consolation I have,” says Simon, “is that we have trustworthy people in charge--sans any proclivity for special interests--who can tell us exactly who to chase with our pick-axes and torches when this is all over.”

THCV Strains

Posted by CANNASaver on Saturday, 18 September 2021 in Thc

Maybe you’ve heard of a nifty lil’ cannabinoid called THCV.  Perhaps it was from your cool smoker buddy who always is up on the newest type of dab, extract, edible, and exotic flower there is to offer.  Maybe it was from your crazy uncle Eddie at the family reunion while he was smoking a doobie of high THCV flower at the same time shouting at his overgrown rottweiler to get off the table and eating the snack platter that Gamgams put out for everyone to munch on.  Or, perhaps you’ve never heard of it at all and have no idea what you’re reading about and this article is going to go into.

If so, then check out our helpful and informative blog about THCV Edibles.

What is THCV?

THCV is a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis. THCV is a cannabinoid.  THC and CBD are also cannabinoids.  While it is similar in chemical structure to THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol, the effects it can have on the body are much different.  THCV has a less psychoactive release in the brain than THC.  People who use THCV report having more energy, less appetite, and feeling less lethargic than consuming something with higher THC.  This is because the way our bodies are able to process cannabinoids is through our own Endocannabinoid system or (ECS).

THCV, THC, and CBD all innervate with receptors in the ECS differently which produces the different reactions we have to consume them.  The ECS helps to regulate our physical and mental well-being, appetites, sleep schedules, and even hormones can be affected.

This article is going to walk through some of the top strains that have higher than average levels compared to other strains.

Where Is THCV Found?

The origins of high THCV strains can be traced back to some OG landrace strains in Africa and surrounding areas.

These strains are Sativa dominant and usually average at around 15%-23% THC as well.

Sativas are known for giving more of a creative head high rather than a lethargic couch-lock that people associate with Indicas.

People began to notice the differences between smoking different strains and started to seek out sources of the different types of highs.  Sativas became known as "the daytime smoke" because as many people say, it gives them energy, makes them feel more creative, and can do the opposite of munchies and help to curb an appetite.

Popular THCV Strains

Durban Poison

This is probably the most well-known strain on the list, or at least it was to us.  This strain is super Sativa dominant.  It is popular for a nice afternoon bong snap.  It gives off creativity and energy as for its main side effects.  It puts out a sweet and earthy aroma when smoked. Artists favor this strain for its highly Sativa effects.  It is usually round and chunky in bud structure and covered in trichomes giving it that frosty sugar-coated look.  This strain is one of our favorites down here at Cannasaver.

Pineapple Purps

Pineapple Purps is a strain that has grown in popularity over recent years. This strain has an average of 3:1 THC to THCV giving it highly psychoactive properties.  It has a sweet aroma that smells fruity and gives off a pineapple essence.  When smoked it tastes like sweet berry wine. It gives uplifting energetic effects when smoked and leaves you feeling with a head in the clouds high with bursts of energy.  This high THCV strain is used medically to treat anxiety, appetite loss, and mild cases of depression.  It possesses dark green leaves, slightly purple hairs, and is frosty with trichomes giving it a beautiful look and an even better smoke.

Power Plant

Power Plant is another African Sativa strain on our list.  This popular strain is a hybrid of Sativa and Indica with a split of around 65% Sativa and 35% Indica.   It has a higher than average amount of CBD making it a perfect blend of all different types of effects.  It will give you energy and also relax you.  Power Plant has light green leaves and a nice rich dusting of trichomes on the outer leaves.  This gives it a sweet and earthy aroma that tastes a bit like limes.  It’s known to give a clear-headed high with lots of energy.

Red Congolese

With more people smoking cannabis now that it is recreationally legal in many states and medically legal in most of the states in the country, nonpsychoactive strains are at the top of people’s to-try lists.  This stain is no exception to that.  Red Congolese is a strain that gained popularity in California.  When grown it has an Indica like bushy structure but possesses the uplifting creative effects of a chronic Sativa.  It also has uplifting and creative effects when smoked or consumed.  It promotes mental clarity and has been used to help treat Alzheimer’s with promising results shown in this study.  This is a popular afternoon or wake-and-bake smoke for many people that struggle with nausea or tension.

Doug’s Varin

This unique strain is known to suppress appetite due to its high levels of THCV.  It has been selectively bred over generations to gain the highly Sativa effects it gives.  It averages around 19% THC when tested.  It is a pure Sativa and boy does it smoke like one. Doug’s Varin gives off a piney, earthy smell.  It tastes like sweet citrus when smoked.  It usually flowers in 8-9 weeks making it a great choice for both indoor and outdoor growers. Along with appetite suppression, Doug’s Varin also is used to treat depression, muscle spasms, and stress.

Thanks for checking out our blog on THCV weed strains.

We hope you’ll go check out some of these strains at your local favorite dispensary soon!

Turnstile - Glow On

Posted by CANNASaver on Saturday, 04 September 2021 in Album Notes

Self-described as a "hardcore band" by lead singer Brendan Yates, one might have a hard time believing Turnstile resembles anything remotely close to that if only the opening 19 seconds on their third full-length are heard. That said, Glow On would also be easy to pigeonhole if glanced over. But as the following 15 tracks swiftly unfold on this 35-minute adventure, Yates' assertion oscillates between dubiousness and indisputability, and descriptions ranging from Incubus to new wave become applicable. Still, the Fugazi-ness undoubedtly lingers. That said, fuck the labels, this rocks. And so much more.

An unsparked spliff found at the intersection of Holcombe and Grand Avenues in Roacheo has itself sparked a quest to find its rightful owner, and, in the chance of its true orphanage, the rightful person who should otherwise spark it themselves.

Although mum at first, it wasn't long before news of the abandoned doobie had reached the locals by storm, with a plurality of the suburb's citizens jamming switchboards by phone to lay claim to the J for days. It was locked away and heavily-guarded, 24-7.

The first at the scene had been Bartelby Jones, a town gossip who happened to “find” the spliff at the corner Tuesday morning at the bus stop. Another laying claim to the pre-roll, Vincent McGillicuty, says the bus stop is in front of his house and therefore the item of interest is likely from his stash. And yet another, Esmerelda Cutler, filed a formal request for custody of the spliff, even though she’s never been to this side of town and is only visiting for RoachFest this weekend from Steem's Point. There were plenty others.

“Obviously somebody out there is probably pretty concerned about this little spliff,” Cheef Officer Caititia Pendleton initially reported. “Everyone can see, it’s extra plump. And stanky.”

The Save the Spliff campaign did very poorly as far as recruitment, until changing name to Save the Spliff for Me. The movement quickly amassed one hundred thousand followers, each eager to smake the joint only to themselves despite its girth.

The city and particularly, its council, have also laid claim to the rolled flower. Friday, a local magistrate clarified that any entity could be appointed legal guardian and keeper of the joint by the city judicial system, and in doing so, announced that he would undertake such a laborious burden. An immediate appeal to an even higher court led to a decision that all those in the vicinity could partake together of said joint, if consumed equally in a circle--a decision well-received by all parties. An even higher appellate decision will determine who has legal right to spark of it.

Best Strains for PTSD or Anxiety

Posted by CANNASaver on Tuesday, 31 August 2021 in Canna Blog

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that affects many men and women around the world. Though often associated with military veterans, PTSD can also develop after a traumatic experience in one’s life.

PTSD can occur in anyone following a traumatic event.

Symptoms do vary but are often extremely debilitating. Those affected with PTSD may flashback to the extreme trauma through a hyper-aware brain and nightmares. This can bring difficulty concentrating or sleeping.

Cannabis usage for those with PTSD or anxiety has become an option for dealing with mental ailments (definitely something we like, vs some of the prescription meds that are handed out).

Let’s look deeper into PTSD and marijuana, with our goal being that we find the best strains for PTSD or anxiety.

Why Marijuana For PTSD & Anxiety

The relationship between PTSD and marijuana has more to it than one may think at first. Though THC and CBD don’t occur naturally in our bodies, they interact with our endocannabinoid system which kick-starts a variety of beneficial biological processes.

People dealing with PTSD often have some kind of deficiency in their endocannabinoid system. By consuming marijuana, PTSD symptoms tend to lessen with the introduction of THC/CBD. These cannabinoids gradually bring balance in their thoughts.

So, with that said, let’s get into some of the best strains for combating PTSD.

Best Strains for PTSD

We’ll go through a list of sativa strains and indica strains.

Sativas

These are more “uppers” and have you feeling more active, alert, etc. Like a coffee or something in cannabis form.

Golden Goat

Golden Goat is an incredibly popular strain that was created here in Colorado. The strain has a high THC potency, usually between 23-25%. The smells Golden Goat puts off are definitely unique.  The taste is similar to something tropical but also spicy.

Golden Goat is known to help treat stress, anxiety, pain, insomnia, and depression.

Harlequin

Harlequin is a delightfully balanced cannabis strain with a high CBD content. Being higher in CBD than THC, the strain has little to zero psychoactive effects. The higher CBD levels help to treat anxiety and pain.

Harlequin has stinky smells with tropical tastes of mango and pineapple. This strain is able to lift moods with happy feelings as well as providing focus.

Sour Diesel

Sour Diesel is a strong sativa strain with its namesake being a pungent aroma with diesel gas-like aroma.  This strain is typically pretty high in THC being between 20-25%.

Sour D has a quick onset time with energizing effects. Consumers state that the strain helps treat stress, depression, and pains. The strain is long-lasting which will leave you stress-free and relieve pain.

Hybrids

These are halfway between “uppers” and “chillers.” A perfect mix, really, although each strain can lean a certain way or other.

AC/DC

AC/DC is yet another high CBD strain on our list.

This strain is evenly balanced between indica and sativa.

AC/DC helps relieve pain without feeling noticeably high. This is often ideal for people with PTSD to ease the way they feel.

Blue Dream

Blue Dream is a slightly sativa dominant strain that induces euphoria and relaxation. With PTSD often causing the inability to relax, Blue Dream has a rep for lifting moods and boosting social confidence.

OG Kush

OG Kush is a classic strain being the cross between Chemdawg and Hindu Kush. The strain leans to be heavy indica which allows strong relaxation. OG Kush has many layers of flavor and aroma.

OG Kush is often considered ideal for PTSD sufferers since the high is known to be euphoric with a full-body calm.

This strain is a great option for those suffering from pain, inflammation, and depression.

Indicas

Lastly, these are the “chillers” or relaxers. They’re usually ones that lay you down softly and tuck you into bed and read you a bedtime story.

Afghan Kush

The legendary Afghan Kush is a pure 100% indica. Afghan Kush has heavy, body-heavy effects that will move your body into bed with ease. With the strain being rich in CBD, Afghan Kush is one of the best strains for managing anxiety symptoms in those who tend to experience anxiety/paranoia when getting high.

Afghan Kush has a pleasant earthy scent and sweet taste undertones of old-school hash. It has dense buds amounting to an abundance of trichomes. This strain will take the distractions/pains you may have accumulated during the day and melt them away like butter.

Granddaddy Purple

Granddaddy Purple is a great strain for people wanting relief from PTSD or anxiety. This strain is made up of the strains Big Bud and Purple Urkle. Granddaddy Purple has pleasant aromas of blueberry and grape.

Granddaddy Purple is extremely effective in helping with PTSD symptoms such as pain, insomnia, nausea, and anxiety. The strain is a great way to reduce the anxieties you are feeling, causing them to come down to much more manageable levels.

Skywalker OG

Skywalker OG is a great way to bring balance to the force, or eh, PTSD/anxiety symptoms. The way of the Jedi suggests Skywalker OG for full master mode. High and enlightened we will definitely get.

Skywalker OG is a delightful cross of Blue Dream and Pineapple Express (both great strains as well). The Strain ranges between 20-23% THC. Skywalker OG is a relaxing, pleasant, and clear thinking high. The flavor profile consists of citrus and floral. The strain has the aroma of earthy and citrus scents.  Skywalker OG leaves consumers in a happy/elevated state of being.

Skywalker OG provides a sleepy kind of high which is great for beating insomnia and allowing for an amazing night's sleep.

The Worst Strains For PTSD/Anxiety

Green Crack

Green Crack may sound scary for a reason. It is a strain known for maximum energy and thinking. The energy Green Crack provides is incomparable to other strains. Green Crack’s chemical biology means it has the ability to enhance focus, but at the risk of unwanted paranoia/anxiety. For anxiety/PTSD, I definitely say to stay away from this strain. Your demons will encircle you.

Jack Herer

Jack Herer can be an extremely anxiety-inducing strain. The strain’s ability for heightened creative effects can cause those with anxieties to have heightened worries and stresses.

Trainwreck

For PTSD, you may not want this “Trainwreck”. The high levels of THC can cause extreme head rushes which those who suffer from anxiety disorders can often find unpleasant.

And there you have it. Now, we most certainly don't want to convince you that cannabis is the cure for PTSD or anxiety, nor should you just get off any prescribed medication, but there are some more natural ways to deal with what you're dealing with.

Shannon & The Clams - Year of the Spider

Posted by CANNASaver on Monday, 30 August 2021 in Album Notes

Shannon and The Clams' latest album, Year of the Spider, is not named in honor of the arachnid-rich campgrounds of High Cliff State Park on Lake Winnebago in eastern Wisconsin. Because that would be every year.

Instead, Shannon Shaw said the title of the group's sixth LP came from reevaluating a lifelong fear of the silk producers during a period of time when her world was crashing down. In a post on the band's website, Shaw said, "I am terrified of spiders, but my mom always told me that they're drawn to me." The singer/bassist visited an astrologer and was told "to summon Durga when she felt powerless, a Hindu goddess who holds a weapon in each of her eight arms... The symbolism of the spider made a full turn in an interesting way. I was getting protection from the thing I feared the most." It also led to the quartet's most serious effort yet.

While it's difficult to find any reference to Shannon & The Clams without the word "garage" being used to describe their music, Year of the Spider is decidedly un-carport by the band's standards. If the production feels similar to the recently featured Introducing... by Aaron Frazer, the not-so-secret connection is Dan Auerbach, producer and occasional hired gun on both. On Year of the Spider, the Clams' edges have been smoothed, the raw energy toned down. Fortunately, the overall "what decade is this?" sound of R&B, doo-wop, and early rock & roll remains, punctuated by Shaw's voice, explosive as ever.

"Spiders destroy the bullshit bugs," Shaw came to appreciate. "Like mosquitoes. Who needs 'em?" As someone born where that omnipresent, obnoxious little fly is the unofficial state bird, I wholeheartedly agree. Safe to say, Year of the Skeeter is unlikely to be LP number seven, but coming from Shannon & The Clams, it would be a beautiful buzz.

Organoids are tiny organs grown in labs by scientists using stem cells, with the purpose of eventually being used in medicine--or at least, super-cool horror movies. Now a team of scientists have taken it to a new level with “Luther,” a large cranial organoid who has grown “optic cups,” and a tiny mouth-hole. Even more dazzling, the celebrity specimen already seems familiar with the concept, and search for, kind bud.

"The mammalian brain depends on nerve fibers made of retinal ganglion cells, reaching out to connect and transmit information, something we’ve never witnessed in an in vitro system," Barbara Zrjkle of University Hospital Istanbowl told Dispatches. “And this one is clearly searching for some stanky dank.”

Right from the start, the tiny, the humanoid eye bubbles, attached by goopy fibers, began looking to land a satchel, according to scientists on the scene, whose report was recently published in National Science Bee. Luther’s optic cups watched with curiosity as the researchers smaked spliffs during breaks, “ever the more intensely when the joint was passed right in front of him, effectively skipping him in the circle.” The globules continued to glance furtively all over the room, serenely resting whenever they came to a nearby cannabis plant.

“This brain is jones’n pretty hard," wrote Willy Finket, associate researcher.

Later on, Finket led the charge to move the growing brain mass into a large tank; although meant to be airtight by design and filled with purified saline solution, it wasn’t long before it resembled a neglected aquarium, 75% full of algae and garbage. Still, an attached camera was able to catch the organoid depressingly knocking itself against the glass each time the scientists powered up their eNails to dab.

Finally, after the brain seemed to shut down in a depressive state for several months, the researchers devised a new experiment, in which the tank was converted to a large gravity bong, forcing the scientists’ gigantic plumes through the organoid’s opaque solution. The optic cups, which by then had grown to full size, turned a bloodshot red, while the mouthhole, still a pinprick, turned up at the corners in what could only be described as a “puerile grin.”

The results were considered immaterial at first, until the faint bubbles, or tiny boops coming from the miniscule mouth, were recorded and edited into full sounds, and then, words. “When pitch-corrected to resemble a real coherent person, it turns out little Luther is speaking what sounds like Italian!” Zrjkle concluded. “Nobody’s been able to translate it yet, but he sure is happy!”

“From what we do understand, he also keeps asking for pizza pie,” she said.

Are Pre Rolls Worth It?

Posted by CANNASaver on Monday, 30 August 2021 in Canna Blog

It’s a special (or maybe just regular ol’) night and you're thinking of picking up something special to bring home and smoke with your friends.

One of the easier options for you to bring to smoke is a pre-roll joint.

There are a lot of benefits to pre-rolls.

A pre-roll joint is affordable, disposable, and can be easily shared.

But there’s just one problem: Pre-rolls aren’t seen as a quality product.

They are seen as low-quality cannabis.

But why? The quality really varies a lot from dispensary to dispensary.

Some use high-quality buds while others use shake or trim (a combination of stems, buds, and other plant materials).

So, are pre rolls worth it, or are they just getting rid of the ditch weed?

What Exactly Is A Pre-Roll?

Simply put, pre-rolls are joints that have been rolled ahead of time for you

A regular pre-roll is made up of cannabis, rolling paper, and a small filter or crutch at the end. Sometimes pre-rolls can include other cannabis products to increase the THC potency.

Many pre-roll joints contain awesomely fresh, ground-up buds

Pre-roll cannabis often contains shake, AKA what accumulates at the bottom of marijuana jars. High-quality marijuana provides an amazing experience.

Unlike with bowls or bongs, purchasing a pre-roll does not require any other equipment except a lighter.

The Benefits of a Pre-Rolled Joint

Don’t pass on the pre-packed puff! There are many reasons pre rolls are worth it!

Pre Rolls are Convenient

A huge benefit of a pre-roll is that it’s incredibly convenient.

A pre-roll is ready to go right out of the tube.

No work and no mess for you.

Their convenience also offers major benefits to medical users whose condition might make it difficult for them to roll joints themselves or pack a bowl.

Pre Rolls are Affordable

Often in cannabis, prices for high-quality buds/equipment to smoke from can be crazy.

Pre-rolls are much more affordable and can be bought in singles.

It’s also a great way to try different kinds of strains. The weed is taken from the same jar, we promise!

Pre Rolls are Portable

Pre-rolls are discreet and easy to transport from place to place.

No need to carry anything else but a lighter.

Ditch the tube in the trash/recycle and ditch the crutch of the joint when you’re done.

No glass, no torch, no problem!

How To Spot A Quality Pre-Roll

We have looked at what makes a low-quality pre-roll but how do you spot a quality one?

Smell it: Your nose is a great pre-roll detector. It will tell you a lot. If not sealed, twist open and smell it. If you can smell terpenes and thick aromas, you can expect great things

Look At the Maker: Take a look at the label. Companies like Flower Collective, Willie’s Reserve, and Kaviar won’t risk their reputation by selling underrated pre-rolls.

Cut it open: Before buying a bunch of specific pre-rolls, consider buying one and cutting it open. Ideally, you should find ground buds and little to no stems/other plant material.

Downsides of the Pre-Roll Life

Pre-rolls may have some great aspects, but like with everything also have their downsides. Here are a couple of disadvantages associated with buying pre-rolls.

Mystery Weed

Not being able to always be able to look at the joint may make things “interesting”. For those who aren’t strain-specific, give it a go.

If a certain strain makes you paranoid, best to stay away.

Old Product

Some dispensaries use shake and various plant material to fill their pre-rolls.

Some might even mix in some older product (I’ve seen this happen first hand).

You’ll typically not know how old it is.

However, with Colorado’s quality of weed available, even shake and “older” weed is still very good quality.

In the end, be your own judge.

People might try to scare you away from pre-rolls, but for many, pre-rolls are an extremely viable option.

So, whether or not pre-rolls are worth it for you is a matter of opinion.

Get out there and try some!

Each dispensary is different, too.

THCV Edibles

Posted by CANNASaver on Monday, 30 August 2021 in Canna Blog

There are many health benefits of THCV, but for those wanting to consume cannabis in other ways, edibles are a good option. Here, we break down what THCV is and we talk about how THCV edibles might be the perfect option you're looking for.

What is THCV?

THCV is a cannabinoid

THC and CBD are also cannabinoids but if you’re like most people, you may have never heard of this specific cannabinoid.

The ECS helps to regulate our physical and mental well-being, appetites, sleep schedules, even hormones can be affected.

Where is THCV Found?

Certain strains have more THCV than others.

Most of those strains that possess this unique Cannabinoid come from long-grown, native or landrace, sativa strains found near and around Africa and the Middle East.

Through strain selective breeding and more advanced growing techniques, growers today have been able to isolate and enhance the levels of THCV in plants today.

This is great news for weed science and those that can use THCV for health benefits!!

By being able to isolate individual compounds such as THCV we are able to better explore the different health benefits they can offer from one another.

Here's a list of some strains to check out with potent levels of THCV:

  • Durban Poison
  • Doug’s Varin
  • Pineapple Purps
  • Durban Cheese
  • Skunk #1

What Are the Health Benefits of THCV?

THCV is being explored to help treat many different treatments for different health issues.

THCV has different effects on the body than those of other members of the cannabinoid family.

Decreased Appetite

Unlike THC, THCV is proven to suppress one's appetite. When taken in small doses (5-10 mg) THCV has been shown to decrease the want to eat food.

In one study by the Journal of Neuropsychopharmacology the results showed a consistent decrease in appetite.  This could be used for people trying to lose weight or control urges to eat.

Diabetes and Glucose Control

THCV has also been shown in early tests to help with the body’s ability to control and manage glucose absorption through a study done on mice with Type Diabetes 2.

Seizures and Epilepsy

With the wider acceptance of Cannabis use to treat serious medical issues in the recent decades, one prominent use has been the treatment of tremors and seizures due to diseases such as ALS, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis.

THCV has also been shown to help reduce and control seizures associated with epilepsy.  In this study THCV was looked at independently to treat seizures. There has been much promising research in the field in the past 10 years.

Here is another study on cannabinoids that looks at multiple cannabinoids working together to treat seizures and uncontrolled tremors.

Inflammation

The list just keeps growing in positive medical benefits with THCV.  This study shows how THCV can be effective in relieving inflammation in mice.

With the health benefits of THCV, add those to some of the healthiest ways to consume marijuana and you're set!

Options for Consuming THCV

As mentioned earlier in the blog, there are certain strains that have higher levels of THCV than others.

But what if you aren’t able to find those stains at your local dispensary or your local grower decided to grow a different crop this run than your favorite THCV strain?

Fear not! There are other methods for consuming THCV!

One of our favorites is through edibles. Yes, THCV EDIBLES!

We love this method because the effects you’ll experience will last longer and be more sustained than just smoking.

Check out our deals on edibles in your area on our homepage.

If you want to check out THCV in its purest form, we recommend a full THCV exclusive extract.

While THCV is much more expensive to extract due to lower levels of it found in plant biomass, the process is largely the same.

Like other cannabinoids, THCV is extracted through a chromatography process that uses superfluid liquid solvents such as CO2 or ethanol to separate the compounds from the plant.

The solution is then evaporated with heat under a vacuum to remove all the gas and leave a high-purity THCV concentrate behind. Once extracted, THCV products should be stored at room temperature and away from direct sunlight to preserve potency.

THCV Edibles

While it may take more flower to extract a good amount of THCV, the process of isolating this cannabinoid for edibles has a great perk.

The boiling point of THCV is 428 degrees F with the boiling point of THC being 315 degrees F.  That’s a full 113 degrees F difference between the two cannabinoids.

Essentially, you just have to boil off your unwanted THC and you’ll be left with a higher THCV end result.

The downside to this is that most terpenes are boiled off at far lower levels than either THC or THCV so you won’t really be left with any of those tasty treats.

If what you’re after is pure THCV though, you’re in luck.

I don't even know where to begin with this review. I am that in LOVE with this unit.

This is beyond "so easy a Squirrel can do it". Heck, even a Sloth could handle it just as easily too. The set up, processing and even the clean up is simple, fast and easy to do. No worries about finding the clean-up chore to be such an ordeal that your brain switches to procrastination mode.

Pros:

  • Easy to use - Temp and time presets is what I used for all of my tincture batches.
  • Clean up takes under 5 minutes.
  • Doesn't take up a lot of counter space.
  • Lots of color choices.
  • A ton of accessories you can buy to make edibles (which I did not purchase, yet)

Cons:

  • Leaks a little while infusing and when you release the reservoir to clean.
  • Marijuana smell is present, not as bad as it would be with other methods, but you can still smell it.
  • Nothing to compress all the oil out of the flower.

Why You NEED This Machine:

I think we can all agree, while smoking herb has a lot of benefits, it also has some health risks too. Especially if you are like me and have COPD. With smoking the relief is instant and strain-specific. This isn't the case with most edibles, tablets or tinctures you buy pre-made.

Frankly when I started thinking about what products I wanted to review, I really had my doubts about tinctures. I had tried tinctures from several of my dispensaries and the results were too unpredictable. So I gave up and switched to dry-herb vaping instead.

Honestly I almost lost hope at doing any edibles at all.

I knew one of the biggest problems with dispensary-purchased tinctures is that they weren't typically strain-specific. For whatever reason most of them tasted absolutely horrible as well. There also seemed to be differences in the amount of time it would take for the effects to kick in per batch, probably due to the non-specific strains used.

With the Levo you are in control of what strains you put in. For me, the only time I might make tinctures that are not strain specific would be when using the stock of kief that I've been carefully saving. Honestly, I'm torn on whether to use my kief this way, totally conflicted. I love combining my flower, concentrate and kief in my DaVinci stainless steel .3g pods when I need extra pain relief. It's my lazy Squirrel "moonrocks" (technically I guess I should call them "moonpods").

After trying strain-specific tinctures I am completely and totally sold on the idea of using tinctures over smoke.

In the last 3 days I have used my vaporizer only once. It was only because I needed immediate relief verses 10-20 minutes of waiting for a tincture to kick in.

In A Nutshell:

The Levo, IMHO is a must have for any cannabis user.  Having strain-specific tinctures is extremely beneficial since different strains treat different problems. Different strains also have different onset times. If a strain is a creeper when smoked, it will most likely be a creeper in a tincture as well.

You can use different oils depending on your taste preference. You can even use butter if you want to bake edibles instead of making just tinctures. Just make sure if you are making tinctures, you don't buy the wrong oil.

I sent my son, Thing 1 out to the store to get coconut oil and he came back with organic raw coconut oil, which was solid. It will turn liquid if stored above 76°. What you need to buy if making tinctures is fractionated coconut oil. I prefer this oil because it doesn't have much taste. Other oils people recommend (but I haven't tried yet) are sunflower and hemp oil.

Personally, I think hemp oil would make it taste more suitable for a goat--but that's just me--while Sunflower would probably add pleasant taste to the tinctures. A nice roasted flavor that might help mask the weed taste.

I would also suggest getting some flavor extracts and play with your tincture taste. Just remember this will change the strength of your tinctures just a tad depending on how much flavoring you add to your mix. Which I add after the infusion process.

Tested Strains:

For this review I made two different tinctures. First I used Chocolatina because that is what our dispensary had in shake. Shake is cheaper than flower and I was afraid that I would honestly screw up my first batch. I also made sure to get a strain I wouldn't weep over screwing up. I am not a sativa lover so the fact the dispensary only had this strain available as shake was fine with me.

This strain is a bit of a creeper for me when I have smoked it in the past. It effected me the same way as a tincture too. Silly Squirrel here decided to take another dose instead of patiently waiting. Needless to say, it was an entertaining evening for all, well for me anyways.

Once I realized this made tinctures Squirrel-proof, I grabbed my beloved Pop Rocks strain and went to work. 3 hours later, liquid gold was ready for consuming.

Tincture Details:

I went ahead and procured some fractionated coconut oil. I also wanted my tinctures to be strong so I adjusted my recipe accordingly. The more oil you use the less THC in your dose.

I like doing batches of 5g. I believe the flower container can hold up to 10g. For 5g of flower I used 1/4 cup of Coconut oil.

First process is to decarb. You do not put your oil in the reservoir yet. This is a 30 minute process with an added 10 minute "preheat."

After you hear the beep, it's time to add the oil and switch to infuse. This is a 2-hour process. Keep a small bowl under the spout in case of oil leakage--which my unit had a little issue with. One 1/2 cup of oil (8 Tbsp) produces just over 6 Tbsp of tincture:

  • My Chocolatina at 25% THC produced a Tincture with 630mg of THC (1Tbsp ≈ 104mg)
  • 5g of Pop Rocks at 26% THC produced a Tincture with 655mg of THC. (1Tbsp ≈ 108mg)

To figure out your dosage you don't have to be good with math. All you need to do is download a wonderful app from Sugar Leaf Media called THC Calculator. This is available on Android and iPhone. I was honestly debating whether to share this app information or not. I really just wanted ya'll to assume that I am incredibly smart and good with math. But my conscience got the better of me.

Would I Change Anything:

Two things. I would add a weed press to squeeze all the oil out of the flower.

I had a hard time finding the hole to get the flexible reservoir "straw" inserted so the reservoir could snap into place. This though could honestly just be me getting old, IDK?

Let me end in saying this, the last 3 days my stomach has been the happiest, warmest tummy ever. I don't know if it's the combination of the coconut oil and THC that is helping to coat and soothe? But I have not had this level of stomach pain relief ever.

The Levo Oil Cannabutter Machine, hands down, earns the very rare, very exceptional Wacky Racky seal of approval
